    How are Sash Windows restored?

We restore sash windows using our tried and tested WRSW restoration method. If you’re a London resident or business owner considering using our service, then here’s a step by step guide to our process.

Our experienced craftsmen begin by carefully dismantling the beading and cutting the cord so that the sashes can be removed. We then thoroughly inspect the frame and sashes and replace any rotten timber, loose putty or broken glass.

Next, we service or replace all of the hardware, including the pulleys and catches, and also replace the wax cord with a pre-stretched nylon woven sash cord. We then weigh the sashes and ensure they are correctly balanced.

Finally, we re-hang the sashes and precisely mitre and install the insulation beading to exclude any draughts. We also test the sashes for the perfect balance and ensure they work and lock flawlessly.
